The house of cards is falling...

Long have ASH and their lying, cheating, manipulative cronies from all walks of the anti tobacco fraternity held sway over what occurs on the medical side of parliamentary debate, but their time is coming to an end-thank God! From openly bragging about the 'smoke & mirrors' campaign to bring about a total ban on indoor smoking we now have the head of that despicable, government funded lobby group has now now been caught with her dirty, grubby little paws well and truly in the manipulation pot! The best of it is that scientific study shows that Second Hand Smoke is no danger to human life in the first place, but so worried was she that public opinion might actually be against her concerning the plain packaging that she wantonly urged all anti tobacco organisations to use multiple signatures -
“I understand that you have been copied into an email from a junior member of the UKCTCS which was circulated to the UKCTCS list encouraging sign up to the various websites supporting plain packs stating, ‘You can only vote once on each petition, but I would seriously doubt that there will be cross checking between charity petitions so it may be worth signing all of them to get your money’s worth!"
In other words, if all anti tobacco warriors sign every petition available, no matter how many times they sign for the same result, there is absolutely no way that those idiots (err...the general public) will have an earthly of defeating the proposal: we win again.  Simples!
So blase are these obnoxious, pleasure deny-ers on Shoreditch High Street that they only remonstrate about such a practise when the race is over and done with. The Commentator leads with "Corruption behind the government’s public consultation on standardised packaging of tobacco products"and they nail Arnott fairly & squarely to the mast-as should be done! Lansley has fallen on his sword of tobacco revulsion, so has Milton and Arnott should follow!

The British Medical Association have also been well and truly rogered by that master jewel thief Dick Puddlecote as their army of cohorts have sent them spiralling into the humiliating abyss of embarrassing defeat thanks to blatant lies, manipulation & propaganda. In the meantime, not one of these callous, psychological thugs has said a single word about the sad demise of this 20 year old student Harsh Mangatani who had the audacity to enjoy a cigarette. His teacher, however, saw fit to report this heinous crime to the boys father and minutes later this haert rendering statement appeared on facebook:
" Soooooo my last status m signing off can’t tolerate life any more byeeeeee every 1.....!!!!!!"
Again, just so that it sinks into the feeble minded smoker haters on this planet: Soooooo my last status m signing off can’t tolerate life any more byeeeeee every 1.....!!!!!!"
'Harsh' then went 'skydiving' from a 4th floor window and immediately met his death. His death has been recorded as suicide yet what was the actual cause of death? Answer, quite simply, interfering busybodies who take other peoples pleasures far too seriously. The teacher should be charged with 'causing death by dangerous mouthing'; ie manslaughter. Any qualms about such an event Debs or is it just another acceptable part of your evil manipulations?
In another bizarre twist and from all the propaganda issued over the past half decade, Pfizer have suddenly decided to make an 'out of court settlement' with the wife of a Minnesota man who died after taking this 'smoking curative'.
“We can confirm that we have settled this case,” Chris Loder, a Pfizer spokesman, said in an e-mailed statement today. “Terms are confidential.”
Oh you can bet your sweet ass  “Terms are confidential.”! They certainly won't want to disclose how much it has cost them to keep the case (and chantix) out of court! And why do they want to keep it out of court? Because they know that by losing in court the open the floodgates of financial purgatory! After all they have only just had the time to come to terms with a $60m fine for a decade of bribery & corruption. About the same time they have been plying British anti smoking organisations with money! January sees the next legal round in America.
As the lies, fabrications, manipulated statistics & junk science are becoming looser than a whores draws on payday it is highly amusing that the anti tobacco  mob released this little gem:
"Brussels police have swept the offices of two major public health organisations for bugs following a break-in at a building in the rue de Tréves in which laptops and documents relating to their battles against the tobacco industry were stolen."
Now they must be worried about what form of corruption news is going to be released prior to their version of the said form of corruption- news or it wouldn't matter two hoots that the information had been stolen! What are these arch manipulators cooking up next as they slowly but surely destroy the financial structure of this country? They don't care about the welfare or the prosperity of this country, there is nothing so certain as that. They simply want to continue drawing as much in wages as they possibly can before our government finally realises that it is merely a pawn in the game.
On a slightly different note but still appertaining to what is going on smoke ban wise we find that Trenton Oldfield was sent to prison for 6 months for interrupting the Oxford v Cambridge boat race. Of that I am not unduly surprised as the law has become a complete joke since July 1st, 2007 but the important part of this case is the summing up by the judge, the supposedly learned Judge Anne Molyneu.
She states :
'You did nothing to address inequality by giving yourself the right to spoil the enjoyment of others. In doing so you acted without regard for equality and contrary to the meaning of it. You made your decision to sabotage the race based on the membership or perceived membership of its participants to which you took exception. That is prejudice. No good ever comes from prejudice. It is a necessary part of a liberal and tolerant society that no one should be targeted because of a characteristic with which another takes issue. Prejudice in any form is wrong.'
Thank you Judge Anne Molyneu, you have just shot the entire anti smoking lobby up the arse and made the case for separate smoking rooms, ventilation and the rights for licencees to choose for themselves!
Prejudice in any form is wrong.

Prejudice in any form is wrong.
Prejudice in any form is wrong.
Therefore, in the eyes of the law this prejudice against smokers is also wrong, severely wrong and must be righted-and the means to right this terrible wrong are seemingly simple: ventilation & separate rooms! And when this is suitably done, all ex-licensees, all those ex-club owners and all those forced out o0f business and onto the 'dole queues' thanks to the most unlawful law ever passed should line up and sue this government for they had their chance to amend the ban as soon as they got into power.naive as to assume that no smokers voted for the promise of law reforms!
So you see folks, the house of cards is falling, the builders of the house should be facing prison sentences, the perpetrators of this despicable crime against humanity should be publicly flogged, then hung out to dry for they have created Lord only knows what pain & suffering, homelessness & hardship, anguish & stress to millions of people. Health??? it was never about health for the simple reason that nothing could be proven that SHS caused 11,000 deaths per annum (CRUK CROOK), even idiotic Welsh Dr's didn't want to fight it out with me- 'exhaust to hose pipe' v 'me and cigarette smoke for 20 minutes' in a sealed car The sham has been exposed, the illegality exposed for all to see and, at long last "the house of cards is falling all around us..."

THE TRUE COSTS-prick up your ears smokerphobes!

My thanks to Allan Hansford:-

Smoking bans kill businesses-fact!
I think it was Tom Hanks as 'Forest Gump' who said "stupid is as stupid does" and never has a truer word been spoken-especially when it comes to the costs of this now totally ridiculous exercise of trying to get smokers to quit smoking. After 5 years of banging heads against brick walls would you not think that even the dimmest smoker hater might concede that smokers who actually enjoy smoking-and there's millions of them-might NOT want to give up their pleasurable, soothing, relaxing fags? People laugh when I mention the costs of all this 'quitmania' but believe you me, there is nothing to laugh about when our governments (Labour & Conservative-oh, and the part time ilLiberals) are happy to cost this country nigh on £28bn just because a few smoker hating nutters hoodwinked Blairs totally inefficient and mentally retarded government into passing a "total smoking ban in enclosed premises".
Total expenditure on NHS Stop Smoking Services was £88.2 million, £3.9 million more than in 2010/11 when it was £84.3 million. The cost per quitter was £220, the same seen in 2010/11.
So it has cost the taxpayers (you & me) £220 to stop one (1) person smoking for 4 whole weeks-don't forget that government uses the 28 day barometer for these calculations. That's £55 per week, of our money on one person-who may well starting again on the 29th day, especially if 'prizes' have been attached to the initial 'giving up'. Most people don't spend that amount on tobacco per week so there is no way that such a figure can be deemed acceptable.
If we use £88.2m as a guide over 5 years then we can safely assume that we have invested nearly half a billion pounds on a 'no win situation'. Oh, and this figure does not include all the money spent, by government, on nicotine patches, gums, sprays etc!
816,444 people set a quit date through NHS Stop Smoking Services. This is a 4 per cent increase (28,917) from 2010/11 when 787,527 people set a quit date.
Less than half of the 816,444 that set out to quit managed to last the necessary 4 weeks-SO MORE THAN HALF THE EXPENDITURE WAS COMPLETELY WASTED! The simple truth is that the pharmaceutical companies who engineered smoking bans in the first place, did very nicely, financially, out of the deal. I'll bet they've got sore hands rubbing them together with glee every single day or every time a new 'initiative' pops its head above the parapet!
Now let’s look at those figures again... over just two years.
1,604,071 people stopped smoking at a cost of £172,500,000 PLUS the cost of Pharmacotherapy. The Pharmaceutical companies made, 1,604,071 X £20 = £32,080,420 PER WEEK! That is £128,321,680 PER MONTH from the NHS. Stopping smoking can be a long and arduous task... If the average is three months to quit, the Pharmaceutical companies are making around £150,000,000 per year. That is not to mention other DRUGS like Zyban and Champix and new DRUGS being developed..
.
The 3 month cessation period is simply an estimated average as some may well kick the smoking bug within 4 weeks but I know a couple of lads round here that have been trying for over a year and moan constantly that the patches etc cost a damned sight more than their tobacco did! One thing is for sure, the majority of smokers certainly cannot claim to have quit within 28 days unless it is by sheer willpower alone-and that is the one sure fired way of quitting! And we mustn't forget those that are no longer with us courtesy of using Zyban/Champix etc; they still count as quitters to the likes of ASH.
(With our condolences-Pfizer)

And of course we even have the joys of professional people ripping off the government for £90,000+ by claiming for 2,000 bogus smokers @ £45  a time. Just how many £45's have governments paid out over the past 5 years?
You need to ask the questions about this quit smoking malarkey-don't you? Well of course you do, and you, and you over their taking no notice because you've never smoked a cigarette in your life. Governments have sold everyone, especially the non smokers as there are 50million of them, down the pan simply to appease the multi national drug companies, especially Pfizer. Who gets what backhanders I do not know, and I actually dread to think how much they might be but the drug companies are not being handed your money on a plate for nothing! Of course it is anybody's guess how much governments have spent on quit smoking products but it will be no small amount!
Away from all that we can soon start adding up figures again for we know, courtesy of Paul Nuttall MEP, that every 10,000 newly unemployed costs this government £1.53m per week in 'Jobseekers Allowance' alone and as our hospitality sector has shred nigh on 200,000 jobs in the last 5 years we can soon see what a hefty figure that has become, nigh on £8bn per annum! So if we only afford 2.1/2 years of this ridiculously implemented ban  with these figures we can see that £20bn has 'gone west' without even scratching the surface of the true cost. Then of course we need to add all the other unemployment benefits due to those now laid idle by this ban. Add to that the colossal amount of Council Tax rebates granted due to  unemployment caused by the smoking ban and you might start getting a glimmer of what this silly law is really costing this country.
But it doesn't stop there either! Each major Bingo hall (Gala, Rank, Mecca etc) that closes costs the government £780,000 per annum in LOST revenue (bingo tax). 72 major bingo outlets have closed in the past five years, which to my reckoning leaves the government short £56,160,000 every single year-and that's without all the smaller outlets!
(Brighton's Gala Bingo hall due for demolition)
Pubs are costing the government a fortune too-and they're the ones that are closed! In 2010 alone, the government lost out on £254,000,000 in lost taxes, increasing by more than £5.5m per week! Let's be generous and only account for four of the five years and easily rack up another £billion. Go on my son, it just gets better and better!
Anyone still doubting the £28bn figure quoted to me? I'm not.
Shall we start on the reverse of unemployment pay-outs for the government-the employed?
Just think how much this government is losing in NI contributions per annum courtesy of this ban that has now closed in excess of 12,000 businesses. just think of the horrendous amount of income tax not being collected in every week, every month, every financial year by whatever idiot government is supporting the health loonies at that time. Don't forget, we are not just talking about the licensee, we are talking about all the others employed in each pub. The figures simply don't bear thinking about, they really don't.
Five years of misery for smokers, five years of total misery for all the licensees now no longer licensees, five years of total misery for all those rendered unemployed thanks to closures-and for what? Smoking rates do not seem to have diminished all that much considering the humongous cost now involved and it is rising all the time! In fact smoking in Ireland has increased NOT decreased. Neither can it be proved that the smoking ban has saved a single life although it has proved that this lunatic health regime is capable of killing anyone! Could Laurel & Hardy write such a script I ask? Now a logical person would think that something must change here and it's not too difficult to see what it is that needs to be done! These people on the New York borders soon sussed it out - watch& learn.
Think of all the money that could be saved if education was further implemented over restrictions. Clive Bates was a great advocate of such, sadly his successor, Deborah Arnott has her chips firmly placed on  'restrictions of any type'.
Think of all the pubs that could be opened if the ban was amended. Think of all the clubs that could offer their members of both persuasions the comfort of the club they joined. Think of all the people that could be re-employed in the profession they know & love if smokers had their own little room all to themselves. Smokers will always smoke but they are not interested in non smokers who want to demean them, in fact they would be delighted with a cosy room and a bar to themselves so there is no need to ban them from all enclosed spaces. We've already wasted £28bn on this lunatic campaign, must we look forward to the next £28bn after all, as good old Forest Gump said, "stupid is as stupid does!"

Ventilation is a simple truth

Several matters have cropped up this week which show just how desperate the anti smoking lobby are to maintain their stance against the non existent 'deadly perils' of SHS. We had the welsh (I won't use a capital as they don't deserve one!) anti smoking lobby up in arms about an exemption being made for film & programme makers. How can you make 'period dramas' & 'real life' episodes of whatever when apparently, suddenly no one smokes. Utter bilge emanating from the mouths of the idiotic anti smoking nation situated to our left. No doubt Duncan Bannatyne would have weighed in with his guttural two-penneth worth but he was too busy having a heart attack - that wasn't a heart attack, perhaps he was in need of an anxiety reliever, a nice relaxing cigarette!Or maybe his kids fancied one after receiving the news!
It is the desperate state of the economy that is  now coming to the fore, as we with any sense predicted from 'Day1'. Although the world in general, especially the brown nosing media, have found every excuse under the sun to blame our economic collapse upon, the facts speak for themselves:- the smoking ban came first, followed 9 months later by the credit crunch/recession. In the meantime, the supermarkets clapped their collective hands with glee as their 'new best friends' (the smokers) now started loading up their Saturday morning trolleys for the weekend "home boozefest". Congratulations to a Labour government that was wooed/conned by 'the Bitch from Shoreditch' and all the other lying, scheming, manipulative anti smoking gnomes that contributed to the dungpile of 'fallacious evidence'.

We had to sit and suffer "That" report by the one and only Linda Bauld, a woman so far removed from sanity & normality that she actually produced a report (as wanted by government of course) that stated there had been "NO DETRIMENT TO BUSINESS" and thought she was doing a damned fine job! Incredible! I actually wonder how she kept a straight face when presenting this multipaged  instruction manual on the principles of manipulating the facts - no, I'm wrong there as she was nothing but an outright liar in print! Imperial Tobacco, amongst many, shredded the report in a matter of days!
We only have to look back to the CIU conference this year to see that in excess of seven hundred registered clubs applied for, and got rates rebates due to loss of business (Hello..... is there a Linda Bauld, accredited academic in the house please?) This is exactly the sort of bilge the entire smoking ban is built on-total utter crap! In five years we cannot, in any way, shape or form, prove that we have saved a single life with this idiotic total ban - BUT - we certainly can prove that it has killed off business after business as smokers find alternative methods of enjoyment.
The Red Lion: Once a thriving little business, the boards say it all. The licensees are out of work, the staff are also unemployed and the local council now gets no revenue from the Red Lion. Once a thriving pub, it is now empty, boarded up, even the for sale sign has fallen off and the government no longer draw any revenue whatsoever from this once thriving little business, instead, they now pay out, week after week, to those who used to work there. How clever they truly are!
Incidentally, the smokers that once inhabited this once 'thriving little business' have not given up smoking & drinking, they simply adapted to alternating between each others houses. The ex-licensee joins them, free of any rules & regulations. How clever government truly are!
Strangely enough, the latest country to enact the WHO's demands for total smoking bans has already reported massive losses for bars & restaurants-up to 50% actually! Bulgaria, a beautiful country relies heavily on tourism and locals using bars & restaurants, yet despite the losses already incurred the Bulgarian health minister is unmoved, saying that amending the smoking ban would be a step backward. Backward? In what sense? Do the Bulgarians also want to face the reality of what we have already got/achieved? I doubt it very much because all we have achieved is the opposite of prosperity-financial doom.
Our government has thrown another £2,000,000 of OUR taxes into their latest dumb-ass attempt to bully people into quitting; it's entitled "STOPTOBER" for the simple reason that the government thinks that if you stop smoking for 28 days you are cured - "Lazarus, pick up thy bed and win the 100 metres!" What a load of codball the 28 day stance is. I know many people who have done that bit, collected the government rewards and then promptly started smoking again-but you see, having a 28 day target suits government figures admirably! They can conjure up all manner of suitable figures after only 28 days. Smokember (November) has 30 whole days in which to enjoy whatever you like to enjoy. ;)
As these most erudite people state, it is not smoking that should stop it is the following:

  • STOP the promotion of the scientifically unjustified propaganda to the general public about the supposed harm caused by “passive smoking”. (Junk science)

  • STOP the Anti-Smoking Industry’s intimidation of scientists who know the truth but do not speak out for fear of losing their jobs and careers. (Internal career bullying)
  • STOP the Anti-Smoking Industry's programme of “de-normalisation” of those who choose to smoke tobacco, a programme which encourages the non-smoking public to vilify smokers and depict them as social pariahs, legitimate targets for every form of abuse. (Social engineering)
  • STOP the waste of taxpayers money in administering and policing anti-smoking regulations designed only to appease those who dislike the smell of tobacco smoke. (Defrauding the taxpayer)

  • STOP the use of taxpayers money in lobbying Government for further punitive, unecessary and costly legislative change by anti-smoking “charities” – ASH, CRUK, .....etc.  (Quango funding)
  • They go on to say:
  • CONCLUSIONS

  • The case for the ban protecting non-smokers from lung cancer and heart disease has been shown to be scientifically unjustified.
  • Prior to the ban, when non-smoking areas were almost universal and smoking in public buildings and the workplace was a thing of the past, non-smokers, who wished to, could already lead a virtually smoke free life.
Separate smoking rooms would have made that absolute.
  • Proper ventilation and an air quality standard would readily protect the long term health of non-smoking employees working in smoking areas.
  • The ban has :-

    • successfully appeased anti-smokers
    • damaged smokers personal and social lives and those of their families and friends - especially for the most vulnerable of smokers
    • increased the visibility to children of smoking in pubs/cafes, on streets and in the home
    • increased smoking and drinking in the home
    • all but destroyed our traditional pub culture and resulted in closure of pubs, restaurants, cafes and other social venues
    • increased unemployment with all its associated misery and consequential government expenditure.
Legalising separate ventilated smoking rooms would substantially resolve the above issues, while leaving non-smokers unaffected and able to lead an essentially smoke free life.
That about sums the whole sorry mess up quite nicely methinks. No prosperity has come from this ridiculous total ban, no proven saving of life, only misery, scorn, contempt and hatred poured upon smokers.
Now let me remind you all exactly why we have a total ban. Mr Liam Donaldson (the then Chief Medical Officer) threw a hissy fit and threatened to resign if a total ban was not ordained but what wasn't known at the time was that the medically obese (BMI) Donaldson had been promised a seat on the top table at the WHO if Britain adopted a total ban! That is probably why Patricia Hewitt (MP Leicester West) probably did a complete 'U-Turn' on the issue of private members clubs policing their own premises; ie, having separate smoking rooms-as was in the days of the snug! The nation has suffered terrible losses thanks to one petulant, ponceyfied MP who stamped his feet in temper.
If there was, and it's a big IF now, a true & just court in this land then on 'evidence' alone this total ban would be thrown out-as plain packaging has in America-but there isn't one as the EU directed that Britain  use its legal system to maximise compliance. It has done as many innocent people have been convicted of smoke related crimes that they were blatantly not guilty of!
But where do we fight back against such a corrupt system when it seems that no matter what truths are ignored?
To start with you can sign this petition to the Scottish Parliament-it's open to all comers, no matter where you live. We have CGA Strategy declaring that another 5,000 'options' will close over the next five years-I think that 5,000 is a very conservative estimate!
One such organisation that can lead the way are the CIU themselves, the Working Men's Clubs who are also suffering from the dire effects of the smoking ban, with the most recent closure being the Didcot & District Labour Club & Institute. There are very few clubs that do not have at least two rooms and when common sense prevails, the obvious should dawn-even upon the most ignorant of anti smokers! One room for smokers and another room for non smokers.

 Simples!

In this months Club Journal a member asks a most idiotic question,
"If smoking rooms were granted by government, who would be enrolled to police these smoking rooms?"
I answered simply: "The law would be policed in exactly the way it is now-by council spies, or in the case of actual crimes it would be committee members and ultimately the police. The basic concept is so simple, smokers in one room & non smokers, if they so choose, in another. What is complicated about that?"
And that my friends is all there is to it, separation of the two factors. They wouldn't need 'policing' as smokers would be happy to be inside and non smokers surely wouldn't venture into the lions den? But another very, very important factor has now been cast into the mix-ventilation (see petition above) which exceeds the required EU standard and claims:
The technology for such air handling has improved significantly in recent years, with some affordable devices "claiming a single pass kill rate of 99.999% of bio hazards while removing particles down to the level of 1 micron or below, equivalent to a single particle of cigarette smoke".
Now then, the simple question is this...do the anti smoking lobby profess to know more about this subject than the actual experts in the ventilation fields? I very much doubt they do, so there is no longer any need for a total smoking ban unless of course, the anti smoking lobby are getting so much funding from Big Pharma that they cannot let go!
test for stupidity? = the 453 MPs hoodwinked into voting for a total ban in the first place
test for ignorance? = the masses, the non smokers drawn into the hysteria of SHS being more dangerous than sarin gas. All those that mocked & derided smokers forced outside!
test for greed? = the big pharmaceutical industries using their financial power to buy their way to success
test for love of power? = No need now for we have seen how ASH, CRUK, RCP all relish the 'medical' power they think they hold, but they are being undone at the seams on a daily basis. Nanny Lansley relished his position as Health Minister, he wanted a country where tobacco played no part-he wanted to finish this country off financially-he is now just a 'go-for':go for this, go for that little errand boy!
The time for major fightback has come, before this country is financially ruined. The internal economy is all but dead yet now we have the proof that ventilation & separation works there is no need to bankrupt this country. Lets unite and get our social lives back on track by being in a pub or club that has separate rooms-what a Christmas present that would be for all the pubs and clubs that believe in choice, that believe in democracy!
